My dad once told me that if I love what I do, I won't work a day in my life. I never realized how true that was until I started working with my clients at my current position. Since I've started, I've worked 13 sometimes 14 hours a day Monday - Wednesday and it felt like it was a typical 8 hour day. I absolutely love going to work every day. I love it because I know that I'll be having 3, 4 sometimes 5 sessions. And although they will be tough sessions, We will accomplish a little peice of a wall that a client has built. Or crush a goal that was set in place and make new ones. But I'd be nieve to sit here and tell you that it doesn't drain me. There are some nights I come home falling asleep as I am walking through the door. But see, I can't just go right to bed. I have dinner to make for myself, a dog to feed and give attention to, and a social life that I need to show some appreciation for. I can then go to bed. Being selfish was never a trait of mine. Therefore, I give up all of my energy and then get to me.

I am pretty sure every single person in my life has told me that it's not healthy. That I need to be alone and have some "me" time. For me, seeing others happy, safe, warm with food on the table, or even that 6:00pm family session I have to do where we make shapes and flowers out of clay, is my "me" time. I live a life that unfortunately is always going to be surrounded by sadness and very extremely traumatic situations. But that is what I chose. I have the motivation to make even the slightest bit of difference in the life of someone that has no hope.

So my "me" time, is going to work, working a 13 hour day, coming home and taking care of the apartment & Hazel, then while giving my friends and family attention I do my homework & go to the gym. I then come home and go to bed. Its a crazy routine. One in which not many people understand. But it works for me, and I havent been this happy in a long time. So my advice this morning to you is find that routine that works for you. It literally could be anything. And if it truly works for you (be honest with yourself), then follow it! Everyone has their own list of things that motivate them. Mine just so happen to be something that may not always be positive. But find it, because that something that motivates you, that routine that you are happy with, is what defines you. Its what makes you who you are because it is yours.

So find it, hold on to it, and embrace it! You are your own individual, why not show the world what makes you, you?
